LANDERON - They produced watches and watch movements as early as 1883 and won medals at Paris in 1878, La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881, Geneva in 1896, and a gold medal in Paris in 1900 for their work. Landeron was formed by Charles Alfred Hahn and his brother Aimé Auguste Hahn in 1873, it was called Charles Hahn & Cie. Then, around 1875, the company became known as Hahn Frères et Cie.

By 1898, Charles Hahn (son of the founder) had taken charge of the company, with it then known as Charles Hahn & Cie. The company was a maker of ebauches and a finisher of movements and watches and could produce simple or complicated watches in Landeron. The company was producing chronograph movements by 1923 and acquired the patents of Anatole Breitling in 1924.

By 1910s, the company's growth led many people to refer to it simply as Landeron. In 1925, Landeron merged with Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF), being renamed Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon, succursale du Landeron ci-devant Charles Hahn & Cie (“Landeron branch under Charles Hahn”). FHF/Landeron became a founding member of Ebauches SA in 1926.

Landeron's column wheel chronograph movements were famous, and the company supplied these movements to many militaries. Examples include Cal. 11 and 13 and the state-of-the-art Cal. 39. Because they held the Breitling patents, Landeron was the exclusive supplier of column wheel chronograph movements until their expiration in the 1930s.

Landeron 39
Wristwatch

This is a beautiful watch! EXCEPTIONALLY RARE timepiece! A vintage Postala Doctor's Military wristwatch dated from the 1945. What makes this watch super unique are the five chapter rings on the dial - seconds, telemeter, tachymeter, pulsometer, and breath rate.

Also, it is a vintage chronograph wristwatch with the famous manual wind chronograph movement caliber Landeron 39, 17 jewels, sub second, Swiss made.

It has a 37.6mm round case all in stainless steel and very unique fixed orange color bezel (metal material) with Arabic Numerals on it for the hour time.

It still has the original silver color dial (showing some aged) with minute tracks and dark steel hands. The sub second is located at 9 and the 45minute sub dial is located at 3.

The watch is coming with a super cool orange nylon one-piece strap.

It is a very good looking wristwatch. After 70 years, it is still an unique watch, it is in good condition, keeps good time and runs very well.

Landeron 39 - was a chronograph movement produced in the 1940s and 1950s. It was designed by James Aubert prior to his death in 1939, the Landeron 39 reflected the state of the art in column wheel chronograph movements at that time. It resembles the Venus 175 family but differs in many details, though both are 7-column designs. It is 14.5 ligne in size with sub seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30 or 45minute counter at 3 o’clock.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
